How long have you been CrossFitting?
The Open this year will be a year.
How did you get referred to MO2DT?
Jordyn S. I got out of the army and knew she was CrossFitting. I wanted to do something other than a globo gym. I asked her where it was and then I just jumped right in.
What is your favorite movement/lift that we do? Heavy deadlifts-or any kind of heavy lift.
What advice would you give to someone who has never participated in the Open?
Absolutely do it. It’s a good experience. Prepare yourself for it, though. Drink plenty of water and eat well before hand. Muscle your way through the workouts. Expect it to be tough but just jump in and do it!
What accomplishment are you most proud of since joining MO2DT?
Completing 18.2 & 18.2A, so the cleans from last year. It was a long time coming, and I actually spent a year training for it; but two weeks ago was my third attempt and I completed it.
Who has played a key role in helping you develop a new skill?
Coach Kory and athlete Chris W. They push me the most. They push me to do better at the Olympic lifts and hit heavier weights.
What is your 9-5 job?
Union Laborer. Right now I’m working at Red Rock Dam. We are putting a hydro electric generator in.
What do you do in your free time?
Hunting. Fishing. I also like to spend time with my niece-she’s 5.
What is your favorite meal?
I’d have to say smoked salmon. It is the greatest with sliced potatoes and green beans.
What keeps you coming back each day to MO2DT?
Wanting to be better at gymnastics movements and as cliche as it sounds, the group of people at the gym. It’s definitely it’s own little community.
